Deutsche Card Services and AcceptEmail sign partnership

Deutsche Card Services and the Dutch provider for electronic bill presentment and payment (EBPP for short) AcceptEmail have signed a cooperation agreement. This cooperation will enable German merchants and customers to complete e-commerce payment transactions – from e-bill presentment to actual payment – without having to change the transaction channel.

Merchants can use AcceptEmail to invoice to consumers via e-mail or text messaging. The e-mail contains a picture which gives all relevant invoicing data and the payment status in real time. Customers can click on a link and enter a website which features the picture from their e-mail. As the invoice is already partially completed, customers do not need to enter their data by hand. This helps to prevent entry mistakes. If merchants offer different payment methods, consumers can choose their preferred method. At the moment, the service supports Visa and MasterCard cards, giropay, eps, iDEAL and PayPal. Sensitive payment data are entered directly into a payment template, which is provided via the up-to-date, secure graphic payment interface Smart Pay GUI of Deutsche Card Services. Once the payment is successfully completed, the picture on the website and in the customers’ mailbox will change to reflect the current status. As a result, consumers can always check the current payment status by opening the initial e-mail. They see immediately whether the payment has been made, is due or is overdue. Merchants, in turn, can use the online reporting system of AcceptEmail to see whether an invoice has been paid and even whether and when the customer has opened it.

This up-to-date invoicing method is suitable for initial invoicing, payment by instalments and debt collection, dunning or chargebacks. Combined with Deutsche Card Services payment processing, the method has numerous advantages for both merchants and customers. Two key sources of problems – typing mistakes and the non-entry of important reference data – are avoided altogether. Customers can initiate the payment procedure much more easily, as they only need to click on the link in the e-mail. And merchants benefit from the fact that invoices are paid much more quickly. Both consumers and merchants can check the current status of the invoice at any time. Overall, transparency and customer loyalty are increased and billing and accounting expenses are considerably reduced. AcceptEmail is used by large companies and SMEs in many branches such as utilities, telecom, insurance, retail, publishing, education, travel and government.
